Tea Favorites

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

My first winter in Chicago has felt like forever!!!!! I am ready for spring. My favorite teas below have helped get me through the cold winter days : )

Pomegranate Blueberry Tea from The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf

This tea is so delicious. It has a unique taste from the mix of fruits.  It’s a combination of green, oolong, and black teas, infused with blueberry and pomegranate for a delightfully aromatic tea. Also, try it in the summer as an iced tea .

Relax from Trader Joes

This is my new favorite, that my tea loving mom told me about. It is true to its name. It literally relaxes you! It is packed with deliciousness including fennel seed, licorice, rooibos, anise, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, cloves, peppermint and strawberry leaf. This taste of this tea lingers, and will have you craving a second cup.

If there are any other tea lovers out there that have some favorites, I would love to know about them. Please share!

a snowy day in the neighborhood

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

I woke up yesterday to a beautiful snow storm. It was such a gorgeous sight to see. Every thing looks better when flocked with snow’s glimmer. My roommate thinks it’s funny that I get so excited over 2 inches of snow. What can I say… I am from the desert, and snow is a rarity there.  Matt and I decided to enjoy the snow for a bit. We bundled up, and met for a creative break (being out and about for inspiration purposes) at our favorite park nearby. Snow is so fun!

Winter Hats

Hats are a necessity, especially here in Chicago. My favorite are the faux fur trimmed bomber hats. So cute but also has major functionality… keeping your ears warm on a blustery day! Also, the knit headbands with flowers are so fun and so chic.

Carmel Brulee Latte

This scrumptious Starbucks treat is sure to warm your soul on a chilly day. Starbucks espresso and steamed milk with a rich toffee caramel sauce, topped with whipped cream and shimmery pieces of caramel topping. This holiday drink is so delicious. Try it next time you stop by Sbux.

The Christmas Song by Nat King Cole

This is a classic. You must have this to accompany your Christmas celebrations. Chestnuts roasting on an open fire… jack frost nipping at your nose… yuletide carols being sung by a choir… and folks dressed up like Eskimos!

It’s A Wonderful Life

My favorite Christmastime movie! George Bailey spent his entire life giving to the people of Bedford Falls. After a series of discouraging events George becomes despairingly frustrated and contemplates taking his life. An angel helps this compassionate but discouraged businessman by showing him what life would have been like if he had never been born.

Matt and I saw a radio-play of the film this past weekend at the legendary Biograph Theater. I would highly recommend it! The actors were so talented, and I was amazed by the talent of the sound effects guy. Recreating a 1940s-era radio broadcast complete with on-air commercials was a unique way to tell the story. And milk and cookies for the entire audience after the show. A fun, holiday event to attend.

So those are my holiday favorites. What are some of yours?
