pieces of a real heart January 26th, 2010

I had the opportunity to design a cd cover for my friends Sanctus Real. They had a few designers work on cover ideas… in the end they went with a different cover. Their new cd titled Pieces of a Real Heart comes out in March. It is a great record so pick up a copy.

Here was one my cover proposals.

who will help the church? January 18th, 2010

snapshot-2010-01-18-23-32-14

Pastor James McDonald of Harvest Bible Chapel here in Chicago, along with Pastor Mark Driscoll of Mars Hill Church in Seattle, are in Haiti as we speak getting the stories of how the earthquake has affected the church in Haiti. They are assessing what can be done to meet the immediate needs of the church in the toughest areas. The goal is to share what they discover and to raise support from churches in North America for the church in Haiti.

Please visit ChurchesHelpingChurches.com for more information, updates, and how you can be a part of this.

So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith. Galatians 6:10

a snowy day in the neighborhood January 9th, 2010

I woke up yesterday to a beautiful snow storm. It was such a gorgeous sight to see. Every thing looks better when flocked with snow’s glimmer. My roommate thinks it’s funny that I get so excited over 2 inches of snow. What can I say… I am from the desert, and snow is a rarity there.  Matt and I decided to enjoy the snow for a bit. We bundled up, and met for a creative break (being out and about for inspiration purposes) at our favorite park nearby. Snow is so fun!

the making of a paper chain tree December 30th, 2009

I have been asked many questions as to how I constructed the paper chain tree for Willow’s Christmas services. I thought I would show a few pictures of the construction process. The tree was constructed using cardstock and fishing wire. The top tier was suspended from the ceiling, then each tier attached to the tier above it. Each branch was attached to a 20 foot frame that surrounded the whole tree, in order to give the curve to each limb. The last step was to attach the letters that I cut out of foam board. The whole tree took two days to construct and shoot.

Now that is a lot of fishing wire!

Once we captured the final shot I had a lot of work to do in photoshop to get rid of the background and all the wire  lines that showed up in the photo. After a lot of work and a new background the tree was ready to be placed on all the promotional materials.

Below is the invitation for the Christmas services. The tree punched out of the invite to make an ornament for your Christmas tree.

Here is a picture from the Christmas service. You can see all the paper chains that the tree was inspired by.

At the end of the service the audience made paper chains full of prayers and passed them up to the stage, where they were hung together to make this paper chain wall.

This is ridiculously awesome, Britt. I thought the kiosk ad was ridiculous, then I saw the billboard.

  2. Marilyn Lyon:

Wow! I love your creativity - how awesome!!

  3. Kyleyn:

Britt this is awesome! So cool that you actually got to do all those promotional pieces that we dreamed about doing for our senior show - a billboard SWEET! Your work looks like lots of fun…maybe one day when you just have too much on your plate, we can work together…2 person business :) I miss you and think about you all the time when I look at how cold it is in Chicago lol. Call me soon and thanks again for the chocolates mmmm so good!!!
