photography + chicago blizzard February 3rd, 2011

The past few days the weather has been absolute madness. The blizzard was much stronger than expected due to the high winds. I have never experienced anything like it.

blizzardblog_5

Nothing in my neighborhood got plowed yesterday, so some opted for the streets instead of sidewalks.

This is a 3-foot fence that separates Lakeshore Drive from Inner Drive. You can see its almost completely covered.

Here are cars that got stranded on Lakeshore Drive during the blizzard. This goes on for about two miles.

The only traffic the drive saw today was pedestrian traffic.

favorites + winter teas February 2nd, 2011

We are definitely in the middle of winter here in Chicago. Lots of time spent inside to keep warm and toasty. Here are some new teas I have discovered since my last post about my favorite teas.

winterteas

1. Tazo Vanilla RooibosA mildly sweet and indulgent blend of rooibos, vanilla, sweet blackberry leaves, apples and peaches. Starbucks becomes my office about 3 days a week. The one in my neighborhood is open 24 hours, so that is conveinent! In attempts to not drink sooo much coffee, I have switched to ordering this tea whenever I work from there. It is a cup of deliciousness.

2. Traditional Medicinals Throat Coat - Organic Throat Coat® is a complex and aromatic blend of herbal tastes–sweet, aromatic, earthy and viscous. I drink this tea even when I am not sick, but it has been clinically proven to promote throat health.

3. Good Earth Original - This is a deliciously full-bodied blend of tea and herbs. The perfect mix of orange and cinnamon. This makes for a rich dessert tea.

save the date + bill and lindsay February 1st, 2011

Here are the Save the Date invites I designed for Bill and Lindsay’s wedding. We used a photo from their engagement session for the front. One of Lindsay’s passions is theatre so we thought it would be a fun touch to add save the date info to the marquee outside the Chicago Theatre.

photography + emma and ryan January 29th, 2011

I have been capturing images of miss Emma for a few years now. She is growing up WAY TOO FAST! And now she has a baby brother named Ryan. Here are a few images from a shoot I did with them a few weeks ago. Emma is a great big sister, they are just so precious together.

web design + the technicolors January 19th, 2011

TheTechnicolors.com just launched last week. It was important that the site was easy for the band to add content, edit tour dates, upload images and video. We went with using Wordpress as a CMS, which allows them to do all of these things very easily, without ever touching a line of code. Click on the image below to check out the site , and see if they are playing a show near you.

I also designed this t-shirt for them which is available online or at their shows.

web design + katie good mcninch January 15th, 2011

KatieGood.com is now live. Her music is considered indie pop folk, so we wanted to go with a clean, elegant but folksy feel for the website. We incorporated many of the images from the photoshoot we did together last year,  along with subtle design elements.

I also designed her CD packaging, which I will be posting soon.
